It blows my mind how often people brush off street harassment like it's no big deal. One whistle, one nasty cat-call, even just a look up and down, can completely ruin my day. I am not walking down the street to be surveyed by you. I work as a receptionist and right next to a large window that is level with a sidewalk that gets a decent amount of foot traffic (in San Francisco). I get harassed through that window every once in a while, and I want to scream every time. One time, a man actually came in and walked up to my desk to verbally harass me as well. What makes people think this is acceptable behavior?! Ugh. We've got to do something to change it.
