Sat, 08 Jan 2011 22:16:35 +0000 http://about-face.org/blog/?p=4329#comment-1400 As I've struggled with eating disorders myself, like many other girls I know - especially in my fashion subculture, which, as much as I love it, and although it has many liberating and beautiful aspects, prizes a body type that is unattainable for most western women - I would say that it's inevitable that Ms. de Rossi still has bad days. Everyone I've discussed it with who's been through it agrees; it's not something you ever really get over, it's always a voice in the back of your mind that you have to learn to ignore or resist. Some days are bad, and the thought of eating makes you feel physically sick. You know you need to, but you somehow can't muster up the courage to stick anything edible in your mouth. Those times I've tried to eat anyway on days like that, I find myself spitting the food out before I even have time to decide whether or not to swallow it.
