Question the motives of the fashion industry, and tell them what you think! Remember that the main objective of the fashion, cosmetic, diet, fitness, and plastic surgery industries is to MAKE MONEY, not to make you the best person you can possibly be. Selling you an image that breeds insecurity and self-hatred is working for them. But is it working for you?
Your letter, e-mail, or phone call really will make a difference, if you communicate productively and talk to the right people. Here are some people and companies you can write to or phone when you see an image you find problematic OR one you find to be positive.
TIP: Tear out an ad from a magazine, and put a label or sticky note on it saying “This ad hurts women.” Mail it to the company, and attach a well-written letter for extra bonus effectiveness.
