I thought this was a joke. I mean, it’s an absurd concept. Are women in general this gullible? Or, are women so pressured to be thin that this is a viable option? I think it’s very demeaning and just perpetuates the “quick fix” idea. LOL

I think it definitely reinforces harmful stereotypes! I think one of your most important points in this piece was that “we are still buying into the stereotype that thin is acceptable and desirable and other body weights must be demonized, contained and ‘sucked’ away.” It’s sad to me that there are so many of us out here speaking out about these horrible representations of women in the media, yet companies will STILL stoop this low for their advertisements. Garbage.

My initial reaction was a “harumph” of disbelief mixed with sarcasm. I agree with all you wrote, but also I believe it also speaks to our demand for everything NOW. Want to lose weight? “Suuuuuck!” It’s gone. I don’t believe we need to be a one-size-fits-all society, but we are ridiculously overweight and we constantly say we can’t find time to exercise, but somehow manage to find the time to stuff our faces all day long. I am an overweight woman who used to be thin, then got insanely overweight. I know exercise daily and instruct a Zumba class. Your website is wonderful and I love how it promotes natural beauty, not an acceptance of laziness and mediocrity. Confidence is beautiful, and you hand it out in spades!
