I love the sound of her voice, but only a couple of her her songs have never really caught on with me. I respect her and her ability to (as far as the public knows) control her career and her image and fight off all the haters.

Lauer has the worst manners--even for a talk show host! I think if you have someone on your show to perform and read them their reviews--after they declare that they never read their reviews--then essentially force then to listen as you read them anyway. Then proceed to only read reviews that are clearly obnoxious! What a jerk! So glad I don't watch these sorts of shows.

Ouch. I cringed during that. I found it strange when she said she hadn't been in a relationship for awhile, and Matt was so quick to point out what she was doing wrong. I don't remember her ever saying she really wanted his advice or wanted to be in a relationship, for that matter. It's strange people assume single women are always actively pursing Mr. Right.

I've never been a huge fan of Clarkson's music (it's just not my thing), so I don't know a lot of her lyrics/the messages in many of her songs, but I have a huge amount of respect for the way she handles the often insane industry she works in. I also listened through the song at the end of the video, and I'm not getting a super gender specific message from it either.

I stopped watching the Today Show after Kathy & Hoda discussed what would they would rather be then fat, for example, "I'd rather be dyingof Cancer then be fat!" They actually aired this, if the word gay or disabled were used in the place of fat, most people would be in an uproar. According to the Today Show, talking about how you'd rather get hit by a truck instead of being fat is just normal girl gab, oh every woman can relate to feeling that they'd rather come down with MRSA then being fat right?

This is why I think Matt was giving Kelly a hard time. He was subtly fat shaming her, suggesting that she had no right to dictate how she should be treated by men unless she's thin. How dare she have self esteem while being fat, that's immoral! The Today Show has had segments in tribute to weight loss sucesses, like the person who lost weight acheived something close to winning the Nobel prize. So all in all, the Today Show has a history of weight bias. Kelly is very smart for not making a big deal out of it, I guess. If I were her I would've told Matt, "Oh so men should run away from any women who isn't completely submissive?"
