		<description>Very nice article. I think that part of the reason we, as a society, expect having a daughter to change one&#039;s views on women more than just knowing awesome women has a lot to do with the paternalistic view that society takes towards father-daughter relationships. There&#039;s some serious baggage regarding fathers having to protect daughters, and particularly their purity and innocence, that dates back thousands of years. We have this idea that a man shouldn&#039;t just respect his daughter, but also shield her from everything in the world. It&#039;s a nice idea and all, but as you point out, problematic when we&#039;re not asking men to treat ALL women with respect.</description>
