Samsung Smart TV makes men look like mindless losers

What We Think:

In this commercial, we see Angela Bellotte, a Victoria’s Secret model, standing in front of her window, waving, biting her lip, and making come-hither faces at multiple men in the building across from hers. Apparently Samsung thought the way to inform people of their new state-of-the-art television would be to show a scantily clad woman acting sexy and enticing men instead of showing the features of the TV, which basically just ends up being the punchline. And if that wasn’t enough, the commercial shows that men will drop whatever they are doing and fight one another to get to a woman they don’t even know. It is pretty clear that you would not be able to tell that this long, made-for-web commercial is for a Samsung ES8000 Smart TV, if you didn’t watch it in its entirety. Yes, we know “sex sells,” and especially women’s sexuality, but we don’t need to stand for it, and the way this shows men (drooling and ruled by their nether regions) is not the kind of equality we’re looking for. — Nickole Mariona
