This commercial sucks more than just fat
Questions to Consider:
- What does this say about women’s bodies?
- How are fat women portrayed in this commercial?
- What message is this commercial trying to send to its viewers?
- If you find this ad funny, why does it “work”?
What We Think:
LG takes insulting women to a whole other level with this commercial. To show the powerful suction of the LG Kompressor Plus Vacuum, a man is hiding behind a model with the nozzle of the vacuum on her back sucking up all her excess fat. Apparently, LG wants to make the statement that the suction of their new vacuum is so good that it is strong enough to make a fat girl skinny. The only statement they are making is that LG is an insensitive company that thinks it is okay to ridicule a woman’s weight and then call it funny. Well we have news for you, LG: You are not funny, you’re offensive and should be ashamed of your commercial. — Nickole Mariona
