“Where, oh where did Daddy Big Bucks put my suitcase?”
One theme in advertising is to infantalize women–while turning them into sexual objects: baby pink accessories and a matching teddy bear. The real message here seems to be “innocence” rendered as helplessness. This ad and dozens like it hold out the possibility of being both sexy and childlike. Adult women pretending to be children pretending to be adult women. Is it any wonder some men become confused? (Retzinger, 2004.)
