Today’s standard of beauty keeps women psychologically and materially poor (Naomi Wolf, Beauty Myth, p. 52). In 1994 total retail sales for the American fashion and footwear industries were estimated at $246.5 billion (Kaz-Cooke, p.151). So, hey, looks like we’re already donating plenty.
