Wow...I thought I've seen it all, but...wow.

"How to be a girly girl in ten days"? I'm sorry, but that's just another way of getting girls back into the stereotypical roles (ie. snagging boys, make-up, worrying about clothes, and I'm sure cooking is in there too). And what's crazy is that it is a woman who has created all this!

What's wrong with being yourself? Why do you have to be a girly girl?

Gah, this book is already grating my nerves.

A better storyline is that the girl struggles with her appearance because of societal expectations, then she struggles with the fact that she has no boyfriend. But, soon after, she comes to terms with herself, accepts herself (and doesn't change)--and doesn't conform to expectations. Whether or not she has a boyfriend in the end is irrelevant. I just think it'd be better if she came to a realization that she doesn't 'have' to be any certain way--she doesn't have to be a girly girl, or the "princess", etc. All she has to be is happy.

I think that would send a much better message to girls who would read it.
