I'm just glad there's one less teen rag mag out there, convincing girls their life must revolve around what boys want, how to look cute for boys, how to get boys to like you ect and ect.

I am subscribed with ElleGirl and Vogue, and there is a difference between Cosmogirl and Seventeen Magazine. Elle and Vogue are more fashion oriented rather than talking about sex, prom, or zits all the time.
I think Hearst might have heard your idea! Cosmogirl will consolidate its teen publications into Seventeen Magazine, Hearst largest-selling teen magazine on newsstands. I Agree with you, since some of these magazines talk about the same thing, this compiling will not make a difference on Seventeen, it could however, mean more money for other teen publications.
It would also be very interesting to read a magazine that focused on embracing our individual style rather than "What does he think?" When young girls read this material it makes them want to be something they are not and will never be. This is something that I remember doing my sophomore year in high school. I had a boyfriend who was VERY popular, football captain, and was loved by everyone. I felt worthless next to him because I was nowhere near as popular as he was. I would flip through these magazines to figure out how to get other people's attention, or how to make him like me more. Girls sometimes fail to realize that if a guy chooses to be with you, he doesn't want you to change anything about yourself, or to try and be someone you're not. Trying to find who I wanted to be in magazines was worthless. I felt a sense of insecurtiy, and some way or another, led me to ther dark world of bulimia. I felt extremely pressured to satisfy other people needs and wants rather than mine. After finally listening to my screaming body, I realized none of this was me. The most important thing in life is not to satisfy him, or anyone else, but yourself. Learn to accept yourself and others will accept and love you for who you are! ;) -XOXO-
